FAQ’s
What’s your shooting style & vibe on the day?
I like to keep out of the way and let things unfold naturally to get those documentary style candid shots. While I don't pose you, I will prompt you if needed. Things like "that's a pretty spot, go for a cuddle over there" and "whisper in their ear what you want to do when you get home" always get natural smiles and real reactions that don't feel forced.
All good vibes, all day I promise!
I'm here for you and will always do my best to make sure I don't impact your day too much. There will be times where I might need to nudge you to do or not do something, but ultimately, you do you boo!
I love a chat so I'm not too shy that I won't go around and chat with your guests and vendors though.
How much coverage should we book?
It's best to book more time than you need than not enough.
Figure out what time your ceremony is at and how long it will go for as this is the most important part of the day to have covered. From here, add an hour prior for each person's preparations if you'd like a little warm up to get used to being photographed. Definitely allow at least an hour for portraits post ceremony and depending on if you'd like your reception formalities (speeches, cake cut, first dance etc) at least 1-2 hours there.
Lots of factors will mean you need more or less time for parts of the day, so if you're unsure, let's chat about what you have going on and I'll give you my best recommendations to have all the parts you want covered. Generally, 8-10 hours is pretty common coverage and will have a bit of everything covered in your day.
How far in advance do we need to book you? And how do we avoid missing out?
Look, when you know you know, right?
Most couples book me around 12 months in advance. Dates in March, Sept - Nov tend to go quickest so if you are keen to have me along, it’s best to lock me in early. Once you have your date and venue locked in, I’m keen to chat with you and help you figure the rest out.
To lock me in, you’ll need to sign a contract agreeing to some important T’s & C’s, pay the $1000AUD retainer to hold the date and from here we start the ball rolling with your wedding day timeline creation.
We don't like being photographed, how can we avoid looking awkward?
I totally feel this too!
It’s a really vulnerable thing to be photographed and especially on such a significant day, this can feel even more uncomfy! By the time your wedding day comes along, we know each other. So it feels more like hanging out with a pal rather than a photographer/photographed kinda relationship.
I’ll give you gentle direction to ensure you are looking awesome. By focusing on your partner and having fun, your photos will look natural and not posed. Honestly, the less you worry about looking 'perfect' the better. We’re here to have a good time and if you can trust me to do what I do best, I’ll make you look top notch!
Do we need a second photographer?
Need? Not always. But do you want one? Then yes!
A second photographer will help me capture more moments and different angles to add variety to your gallery. They also allow me to be in 2 places at once eg while I'm with you, they can be with your guests during cocktail hour or hanging with your wedding party and all their shenanigans. I highly recommend having a second photographer join us for weddings expecting guests of 100+ or with wedding parties of 6+.
For weddings with coverage of 8 hours or more, they are included at no extra cost to you for all the important bits.
When will we get our photos? And how?
On average, 6-10 weeks is my turn around for your full online gallery.
This gives me time to carefully curate and edit the images to look their best for you. It takes a while to get the whole gallery looking consistent when my documentary style is subject to constantly changing light, location and unfolding events.
You’ll always get a sneak peek gallery within the week of your wedding because I know you’re just as excited as I am to see them!
Before you know it, you’ll have a private online gallery with your edited images in both high res for printing to your hearts content as well as web sizes versions for easy online sharing. All available via direct download to your computer. This takes out the hassle waiting for Aus Post to deliver and finding a computer with a USB port to download your faves.
Do you have vendor recommendations or tips for our day?
You bet I do!
Let me know who you're looking for; celebrant, florist, gelato cart, dog sitter, cocktail specialist... I'll have some amazing humans to send your way. You can check out a shortlist of favourite humans here: Rockstar Vendors
As a little thankyou for booking me, I have an extended version of my Hot Tips & Tricks Guide I share with my couples to ensure you get the most out of your wedding photos! Throughout the planning process, I’ll be available for chats and advice whenever you need it.
How do we say your name?
Like Josh, but Shosh. It's simple as that. SH-OSH.

🍔 BRIOCHE
🎃 SQUASH
